Hello Everyone,

Our May 19th meeting was a success. We got some new paying members and a number of important volunteers. We were able to add another layer of organization to our organization—top priority at the moment.

FIRST ANNUAL BLOOMSDAY FESTIVAL
Wednesday, June 16, 6pm, Mendocino Hotel Garden Room

Mark your calendars for our next meeting, Wednesday, June 16th. It will be the Mendocino Coast Writers First Annual Bloomsday Literary Festival, an event we hope to endear to the Mendocino Coast and grow into something special.

Bloomsday is the only international literary holiday out there. It’s based on a fiction—reason enough to celebrate! It commemorates the day James Joyce described in Ulysses—June 16, 1904, which, for those keeping score, is the day he met the love of his life, Nora Barnacle. It’s celebrated everywhere from Dublin to San Francisco, and this year we’re celebrating in Mendocino. 6pm at the Mendocino Hotel in the back of the Garden Room.

More information to follow, if you’re interested in performing or getting involved in any other way, please contact John Fremont at: john@cypresshouse.com

THANKS AGAIN

I think that’s it for the moment. The Mendocino Hotel worked out very well. We’re in the back behind the Garden Room and can have food and drink if we choose, but no pressure, no waiters. It worked very well last night and the hotel has given it to us for free. Very gracious of them. That’s where we’ll be celebrating Bloomsday on Wednesday, June 16 at 6pm. Hope to see you there.

Molly Dwyer
President, Mendocino Coast Writers
